WELCOME TO THE EDUCATIONAL EXHIBITION ENERGY-ENVIRONMENT

HISTORY - FOUNDERS

The long time experience in machinery design and construction and the awareness about environmental issues gave the motivation to the family of Miltos Choumerianos to establish the educational exhibition ENERGY-ENVIRONMENT in 2010 at Heraklion.

As a grandchild and child of machinery manufacturers, Miltos Choumerianos who was born after 2nd World War, grew at his grandfather’s machinery shop...

ABOUT THE EDUCATIONAL EXHIBITION ENERGY-ENVIRONMENT

THE EXHIBITION

The main part of the exhibition comprises large, real size exhibits that work with the use of biofuels and are constructed by Miltos Choumerianos family. Two working maquettes of the old olive mill and the water cycle contribute to the introduction and understanding relevant educational subjects. Through the educational programmes and with the use of small working models and experiments every year all the renovations at the field of energy production are presented. The selection is made after attending international exhibitions and the cooperation with well-known companies, which specialize in the design and production of educational models for schools and other educational sectors. Some of them are: the steam engine for electricity production using solid biomass, the bioethanol electricity producing system, the electricity production system with salt water, geothermal energy, and the hydro turbine but also the electrolysis unit for hydrogen production for the use in hydrogen car models.

STUDENTS & EDUCATORS

EDUCATION

Our first goal at the educational exhibition ENERGY-ENVIRONMENT is to bring students and educators in touch with machinery and models that use alternative energy sources to produce electricity, heating, auto motion and cover other needs in industry.

With realistic and practical methods the use of simple natural sources that are eco-friendly but also economically efficient along with the new technologies that offer reliable and environmental friendly solutions are presented.

Visitors have a 3 level educational experience. First they have a contact with the exhibits, then they are influenced by the guided tour and the conversation and finally through the use of working models. In all levels emphasis is given to the senses. Therefore the educational programme is related to the world of experiences of every child, through and energetic model and not by just giving plain information.

ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS

AIMS

Awareness and information of students about environmental issues

The awareness and the information of students about environmental issues are very important for accepting all the efforts that are being made to encourage the use of more eco-friendly and efficient technologies, the renewable energy sources, and the energy saving, values that have to be raised during school age.

Promotion and reinforcement of sustainability

In more details, our aim is the promotion and the reinforcement of sustainability in order to create an environmental ethos. This is possible only when the students gain the knowledge, realize the importance of all these issues, and acquire the skills so in the future they will be able to participate in the solution of the environmental problems.

Creative Experience

Throughout the process, we hope that the students’ visit to the educational exhibition ENERGY-ENVIRONMENT be a creative and pleasant experience.
